Cooking in the Country

Bountiful Blooms Tombstone Trail
Art in Architecture Legacy of Lewis and Clark

Cooking In The Country
Oregon is an agricultural utopia and Oregon's Mt. Hood Territory is a culinary mecca. This is where chefs come to find the freshest mushrooms and asparagus, the ripest berries and peaches, and wines of world-renown. This activity lets participants sit with a chef for two hours and learn how to make the gourmet meal they will enjoy.

Bountiful Blooms
Pure air and water. Temperate winters and warm summers. Soils rich with volcanic deposits. All of these combine to make Oregon's Mt. Hood Territory the perfect place for growing some of the world's most beautiful flowers and decorative plants. See and learn about the colorful and abundant flora that make our region a favorite destination of photographers from around the world.

Tombstone Trail
In the mid-1800s, pioneers to the Pacific Northwest first traversed perilous Mt. Hood to descend into Oregon City on the Willamette River, the capital of the new Oregon Territory. Most chose to settle here. Tour our Territory, rich with tombstone monuments that tell the story of prominent figures and others from the region's history.

Art In Architecture
Oregon's Mt. Hood Territory played an important role in the founding of the West. Tour important architectural sites and learn what makes them significant. From the famous Timberline Lodge to the majestic Barlow House and even the Frank Lloyd Wright house at the nearby Oregon Garden.

Legacy of Lewis and Clark
In 1804–1806, Lewis and Clark journeyed through what would become Oregon's Mt. Hood Territory. Their journey planted the seeds of settlement, a legacy, which beckoned pioneers only 40 short years later to move westward along the Oregon Trail. The tour combines the story of Lewis and Clark's journey with that of the pioneers of the 1840–50s that settled in Oregon City.
